A fun, rollicking tune in the style of a country hoe-down, it features some Elvis Presley-style vocals from singer Robert Plant. The song was influenced by American Rockabilly music. The song emerged from the band's London pre-production rehearsals, at which it was typical for them to run through old Elvis and Ricky Nelson material from the 1950s.The lyrics about a girl in Texas who "Took my heart" may have been based on a real woman in Plant's life, but he called this a tribute to Texas and the state of mind of the people who lived there. Plant also mentions the name "U-Haul" in one of the song's verses, referencing the American-based, "move-it-yourself" company. The title of the song - Hot Dog - refers to a distinctly American cuisine.Upon listening closely it is possible to hear Plant counting to four and a slight electronic buzz before the song begins. Guitarist Jimmy Page used a Fender Telecaster on this song, outfitted with a device called a B-Bender. This device, which raises the pitch of the guitar's B String via interface with the musician's guitar strap, can be heard at the end of the song's guitar solo."Hot Dog" was performed live at Led Zeppelin's performance at Knebworth in August 1979, placed rather awkwardly between "Ten Years Gone" and "The Rain Song", and on their tour of Europe in 1980. It was made available to the record industry in America by Swan Song Records. However, the track was omitted from the Led Zeppelin DVD , which was released in 2003 and instead featured various other songs performed by the band at Knebworth. Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile Part. 2"Voodoo Chile" is a song by The Jimi Hendrix Experience from the album Electric Ladyland. Recorded on May 2, 1968 at the Record Plant Studios in New York City, the recording session included Mitch Mitchell, drummer of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Steve Winwood of Traffic on B3 organ, and Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane on bass duties. The song, basically a 15-minute blues jam, evolved into the final product over the course of an hour.After many of the late night Electric Ladyland recording sessions, Hendrix and the band went to one of the New York City clubs to jam with whoever was there. One such jam at The Scene Club included Steve Winwood and Jack Casady. Noel Redding was not present as he had stormed out of the Record Plant studio earlier that evening. They spent the night playing "Voodoo Chile", and when the club closed, Hendrix invited everyone back to the studio. At about 7 a.m. the next morning they began to formally record "Voodoo Chile". It took only three takes and the final 15 minute version was Hendrix's longest studio recording. The second take did not come out well, since a string broke. The first and second takes are used in "Voodoo Chile Blues" that is a combination of two takes released on Hendrix leftovers-album called Blues.While "Voodoo Chile" sounds like a live recording, the crowd noise was actually recorded afterwards.
