His son Tyler was having a medical scan, which thankfully revealed no problems. I came down on the coach and was met by Jude and Brian, who'd very kindly offered a couple of days before to put me up for the night and take me back to the station with my gear next day. Jude was at my first Sheffield gig at the Red House, and a few good words to the owners of the Runaway helped me get the gig. Jude's also a writer on the cusp of major public recognition I believe, and you can see her in my friends list.We got to the venue, not far from the station. The place itself is small, but very stylish and comfortable, 100 people capacity i'd say. I had me some wicked vegan food, done mexican style. The event itself started at 7.30- it was part of the city-wide LOVE2B festival which has loads of events on the theme of Love. It was also themed as a tribute to Bob Marley, whose birthday it was. The first half of the night was open mic readings, hosted by Jude. There was a nice selection of performances/readings by about 15 different people, including Jude and Bry. After a break at 9pm, I was onstage at 9.30, starting with Nothing's What It Seems.....was great to see Sting and Matt down there too, who I know from the UB40 forum and were at the Red House. They were at the front dancing away, especially Sting, girl's always on the floor! Faves that night were Just Beneath The Skin, Shame (first time i've played it and i like how it works within the set.)......oh yeah, I did some Marley covers too.....Johnny Was (enjoyed that, must keep it in mind), Natural Mystic too, in me own way.Feedback was VERY positive.....Donna and Justin who run the place want to bring me down for a Fri or Saturday night, where it's usually jam packed dancefloors.......also, I've been asked to do something on www.sheffieldlive.org on 93.2 FM, a new (legal) station down there...one of their presenters Anita Guy was there doing a reading (and she was dancing later on!).....she 's asked me to come in next week to do a live session on her prog, Tues 12-1 i think.....interview and a couple of songs. Jude will also be interviewed about her novel My Adventures In Cyberspace.......Sheffield Live are new and community focused so it'll be great publicity.I think that's about it!
