Led Zeppelin - Hots On For Nowhere
Posted on Sun, 29 Jun 2008 14:16:42 -0500 in Blue plant
Led Zeppelin - Hots On For NowhereCopyright - 1976 Swan SongHots On for Nowhere" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin released in 1976 on their album Presence. The basic structure of this song can be traced to rehearsal sessions for Led Zeppelin's sixth album, Physical Graffiti, as well as the 1975-era live versions of the song "Dazed and Confused".The lyrics were written by Robert Plant about his frustrations with Jimmy Page and Peter Grant. Page used a lake placid blue 1960 Fender Stratocaster for the recording of this song, as can be heard from his use of this guitar's tremlo arm.Lyrics: I was burned in the heat of the moment, Though it couldn't have been the heat of the day When I learned how my time had been wasted, (And a) tear fell as I turned awayNow I've got friends who will give me their shoulder, Event I should happen to fall Time and his bride growing older I've got friends who will give me fuck all (On the) corner of Bleeker and nowhere In the land of not quite day A shiver runs down my backbone Face in the mirror turns greySo (I) looked round to hitch up the reindeer Searching hard trying to brighten the day I turned around to look for the snowman To my surprise he'd melted away. As the moon and the stars call the order Inside my tides dance the ebb and sway The sun in my soul's sinking lower While the hope in my hands turns to clay I don't ask that my field's full of clover I don't moan at opportunity's door And if you ask my advice, take it slower Then your story'd be your finest reward. Lost on the path to attainment Search in the eyes of the wise When I bled from the heart of the matter I started bleeding without a disguise Now everything's fine under heaven Now and then you've got to take time to pause When you're down on the ground, don't be messin' around Or you'll land in a boat without oars Hey babe, Hey babe, Hey babe, I lost my way. Hey babe, Hey babe, I don't know where I'm gonna find it. Hey babe, Hey babe, Do you wanna know, Do you really, really, wanna help me, yeah? Let me tell you now, babe Let me tell you That it feels so good that it must be right Now my babe, Let me tell you That it feels so good that it must be right... ...

Schwarzer saves best for latest chapter - Adelaide

Mark Schwarzer answers questions at his Adelaide book launch - 24/6/08The Football Federation SA will be hosting Qantas Socceroo star Mark Schwarzer on 24th June to release his latest instalment of his children's book, "Megs, Scarves and Sombreros". Schwarzer will be visiting Gleeson College, Prince Alfred College and Underdale High School where students will be able to meet their hero.Due for Australian release on 1 June, "Megs, Scarves and Sombreros" - the much anticipated sequel to Schwarzer's first children's book - comes with the stamp of approval from one of the greatest players the game has ever seen.In his forward, Pele has written of Mark that he "has written a series of children's books that I think are important. Megs is a great example of how football speaks the same language to people all over the world regardless of their background, color or religion. These books show how beautiful our game is not just on the field, but for children growing up." "Megs, Scarves and Sombreros" is the second book written by Mark Schwarzer with Neil Montagnana-Wallace about the adventures of Megs -- a young English soccer fanatic who migrates to Australia with his parents.Primarily a story about football, Megs is also a story about tolerance and acceptance -- with characters of all races, religions and gender represented equally and treated with respect by the main characters. Both Mark and Neil have drawn substantially on their own experiences growing up in Australia to create the world of Megs. This series of books has become a labour of love for the two young fathers, who are both children of migrant parents. "There has never really been in books in Australia or anywhere that have catered for football loving kids," explained Mark Schwarzer. "With Megs, we wanted to help these children find a passion for reading, and the feedback from the first book from both kids and parents has been very encouraging. Now, we just hope that they like the second book as much as they did the first... the pressure's on!"The first instalment released in 2007 was called "Megs and the Vootball Kids" and introduced readers to Edward "Megs" Morrison as he struggled to make friends at his new school and set up a school football team, the Pennendale Wanderers. The book is now selling in England, and is due for dual release with the second book in Singapore and Malaysia on May 16.This latest instalment follows Megs and his team mates as they face some mean spirited tactics from their arch rivals, and the prospect of a tantalising prize for the winner of their first competitive season. It's about dealing with racism, tackling adversity, and striving for shared goals. The third book in the series, "Megs and the Crazy Legs" is scheduled to follow on quickly with a scheduled release date before Christmas 2008."Megs, Scarves and Sombrerors" is available for $14.95 from all book stores from 1 June, 2008 or is available via from www.megsmorrison.com. The website also allows kids to email Mark directly with their questions and become members of the "Pennendale Wanderers Fanclub" to win great prizes. The book is published by Bounce Books, a boutique publishing house based in Melbourne www.bouncebooks.com. ...

BARACK OBAMA REACTS - TIM RUSSERT DEAD AT 58
Posted on Sun, 29 Jun 2008 14:02:41 -0500 in Web programmer
Barack Obama, John McCain, Joseph Lieberman, Larry King and James Carville react to the news of Tim Russert's death.Tim Russert, a political lifer who made a TV career of his passion with unrelenting questioning of the powerful and influential, died suddenly Friday in the midst of a presidential campaign he'd covered with trademark intensity. Praise poured in from the biggest names in politics, some recalling their own meltdown moments on his hot seat. Russert, 58, was a political operative before he was a journalist. He joined NBC a quarter century ago and ended up as the longest-tenured host of the Sunday talk show "Meet the Press."He was an election-night fixture, with his whiteboard and scribbled figures, and was moderator for numerous political debates. He wrote two best-selling books, including the much-loved "Big Russ and Me" about his relationship with his father. He was NBC's Washington bureau chief.President Bush, informed of Russert's death while at dinner in Paris, saluted him as "a tough and hardworking newsman. He was always well-informed and thorough in his interviews. And he was as gregarious off the set as he was prepared on it."NBC interrupted its regular programming with news of Russert's death and continued for several hours of coverage without commercial break. The network announced that Tom Brokaw would anchor a special edition of "Meet the Press" on Sunday, dedicated to Russert.Competitors and friends jumped in with superlative praise and sad recognition of the loss of a key voice during a historic presidential election year. Known as a family man as well, he had been named Father of the Year by parenting organizations.Familiar NBC faces such as Brokaw, Andrea Mitchell and Brian Williams took turns mourning his loss.Williams called him "aggressively unfancy.""Our hearts are broken," said Mitchell, who appeared emotional at times as she recalled her longtime colleague.Bob Schieffer, Russert's competitor on CBS' "Face the Nation," said the two men delighted in scooping each other."When you slipped one past ol' Russert," he said, "you felt as though you had hit a home run off the best pitcher in the league. I just loved Tim and I will miss him more than I can say."The cause of death was not immediately clear. The network initially said on its Web site that Russert died of a heart attack. Michael A. Newman, Russert's internist, later said that resuscitation was begun immediately and continued at Sibley Memorial Hospital, to no avail. An autopsy was pending, Newman said.Russert, of Buffalo, N.Y., took the helm of the Sunday news show in December 1991 and turned it into the nation's most widely watched program of its type. His signature trait was an unrelenting style of questioning that made some politicians reluctant to appear, yet confident that they could claim extra credibility if they survived his grilling intact."I can say from experience that joining Tim on "Meet the Press" was one of the greatest tests any public official could face," said Rep. John Boehner, House Republican leader. "Regardless of party affiliation, he demanded that you be straight with him and with the American people who were watching."Russert was also a senior vice president at NBC, and this year Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He had Buffalo's blue-collar roots, a Jesuit education, a law degree and a Democratic pedigree that came from his turn as an aide to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York.Lawmakers from both parties lined up to sing his praises after his sudden death. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Russert was "the best in the business at keeping his interview subjects honest." "There wasn't a better interviewer in television," Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential contender, told reporters in Ohio. Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, Obama's rival for the White House, hailed Russert as the "pre-eminent journalist of his generation." Carl P. Leubsdorf, president of the Gridiron Club, an organization of journalists, said, "It was a measure of the degree to which Tim Russert was respected in the journalistic world that he was the first broadcaster elected to membership in the Gridiron Club after the rules were changed in 2004 to end our century-old restriction to print journalists." Said longtime colleague Brokaw, the former NBC anchor: "He'll be missed as he was loved — greatly." The network said on its Web site that Russert had been recording voiceovers for this Sunday's "Meet The Press" when he was stricken. He had dozens of honorary college degrees, and numerous professional awards. He won an Emmy for his role in the coverage of President Ronald Reagan's funeral in 2004. He was married to Maureen Orth, a writer for Vanity Fair magazine. The couple had one son, Luke. ...

One Day in Houston

The Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) received a coveted 2008 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for superior performance in the design and execution of an individual public relations tactic within a broader public relations campaign. Winners of the award were recognized during the 2008 Silver Anvil Awards Evening held June 5 at the Equitable Tower in New York. The GHCVB, along with video partner Zen Film, received a 2008 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation in the External Video category for its 12-minute documentary, One Day in Houston. This film was created to authentically showcase Houston, but quickly took a life of its own and became the launch pad for Houston's first global image campaign, My Houston. "The Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation annually celebrates the growing scope, creativity and strategic importance of public relations tactics, and represents an extremely high level of tactical achievement in the public relations industry," said Arthur Yann, 2008 Bronze Anvil Award committee chair. "The outstanding work done by the GHCVB is a proud accomplishment that is truly deserving of this national recognition from its industry peers." The Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation was created by PRSA in 1969 to recognize outstanding public relations tactics — the individual items or components that contribute to the success of an overall program or campaign. Awards of Commendation are possible in 63 categories and subcategories, including Media Relations, Newsletters, Web Sites, Feature Stories, Press/ Media kits, Podcasts, Word-of-Mouth and Blogs. Entries are judged by teams of PRSA members — and others who have specific category expertise — across the country. Up to two Bronze Anvil Awards of Commendation may be earned in each category or subcategory. No Award of Commendation is bestowed in those categories where the judges feel the entries do not rise to standards set forth for the award by PRSA. ...
